Stamp hails His Highness as “Man of Science and Culture”
Emirates Post has issued a set of commemorative stamps on His Highness Sheikh
Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of
Sharjah, in recognition of the pioneering role played by him in heritage revival
and spreading cultural awareness.
The stamps, issued under the title “Man of Science and Culture”, are in the
denominations of 50 Fils, 125 Fils, 275 Fils and 4 Dirhams. The complete set of
stamps is available at the Deira Main Post Office; Karama Post Office and Abu
Dhabi Central Post Office from November 30. First Day Covers, priced at Dhs.
9.50 each, are also available at the above locations.

learned personality with unique achievements in the field of culture and
science,” said Abdullah Al Daboos, Director General of Emirates Post. “This
stamp is our gesture of appreciating all that His Highness has done to raise the
status of our country.”
Born on July 6, 1939, HH Sheikh Sultan completed his elementary, preparatory and
secondary education in Sharjah, Kuwait and Dubai. His Highness joined Cairo
University, Egypt, and obtained Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in
Agricultural Engineering in 1971. In 1985, His Highness became Doctor of
Philosophy with Distinction in History, Exeter University, United Kingdom. In
1999, he became Doctor of Philosophy in political Geography of the Gulf, Durham
University, United Kingdom.
His Highness has obtained many Honorary Certificates and Awards. He also held
and is still holding positions at several prestigious scientific and cultural
organizations. His Highness has established a number of educational, social,
economic and cultural organizations. In addition, His Highness has edited a
number of books on history, geography and culture of the Arab World.
His Highness’ achievements have covered several areas, including commerce,
industry and agriculture, conservation of the national heritage, fostering
culture, arts and science and espousing of social causes.
