* As children constitute the real basement for building the future of their homeland and as they require scientific, educational, psycho- logical and environmental supports to be put together, the Department of Culture & Information of Sharjah Government has been taking the initiative of organizing the child festival annually.

*Now being in its tenth year, the child Festival with its various cultural and artistic activities, reflects the true spirit of the current international celebration of the Family Year. The family, on whose integrity and ability to understand, in a balanced manner, the physical, mental and psychological needs of the children, we very much count, plays a vital role in protecting the children against all social ills.

As for our children, this is their long awaited occasion to participate with their paintings and drawings that highlight their role and talent and at the same time their happiness in celebrating their own festival.

In appreciation of the valuable contribution of the Department of Culture & Information of Sharjah Government, the General Postal Authority has the pleasure to issue commemorative postal stamps in four denominations to mark the 10th anniversary of the festival.
