| Civil Defence Day | ||||||||||||||||||

Their Excellencies the Ministers of Interior of the Gulf Cooperation Council,. in their meeting held in Riyadh on 1989, approved a number of recommendations in regard to Civil Defence. One of these was 10 designate October 8th each year as "Civil Defence Day". The object of celebrating the Day is to explain the aims and duties of civil defence, and publicize the need for prevention of fire hazards so as to give a complete picture of civil defence today. The aim is also describe the duties of each citizen and household In regard to the precautions to be taken, through participation in the aims of civil defence, in order to reduce loss of life and property.
This year the Department of Civil Defence will celebrate the day in all the Emirates by organsing exhibitions, and raising consciousness, through books and poems in order to save lives and prevent fires. Beside this the Department will install hoardings along the roads, and also publicise the latest equipment acquired for civil defence. Its volunteers will also participate in the celebrations and, reaffirm their dedication our leaders, for the protection of our country against all evils. Various public and private sectors will also take part in the celebrations.
The motto of the CIVIL DEFENCE Day is "Safety in the Home". |
