The United Arab Shipping Company came into existence as a result of discussions which began between several Arabian Gulf States, as long ago as 1974. The States wanted to consolidate their shipping interests to strengthen the economic ligaments among them to develop their resources and to become independent of Foreign Nations control over the import of capital and commercial goods to the Area.
