The United Arab Emirates celebrates the 37th Accession Day of the President His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan AI Nahyan as Ruler of the emirate of Abu Dhabi. It was on 6th August 1966 that H.H. Sheikh Zayed became Ruler and this marked the beginning of the march of Abu Dhabi towardsprogress.  

The journey, led by His Highness Sheikh Zayed with wisdom and courage in the past few decades, has produced abundant blessings and impressive achievements, covering every aspect of life, including political, economic and social. Today, the UAE , occupies a prominent position at both regional and i international levels. 

Since becoming the Ruler, His Highness has initiated and developed several major projects in Abu Dhabi. A massive programme of construction of schools, housing, hospitals and roads got rapidly under way. His Highness tackled the problem of I water scarcity through the construction of a number of dams, canals, and digging wells and improving the quality of land for farming purposes. He also pursued a policy of environmental protection and wildlife conservation.
