The Fourth Family Meeting
The Handicapped People... Reality and the Future

The care of people with special needs has acquired major importance in today’s world. There are various levels of physical disabilities. Such disabilities could be congenital (caused at birth due to various factors) or results of accidents or injuries. These disabilities affect people of all ages.

People with special needs, whether they have physical disabilities or health impairment, can be defined as those individuals whose disability deprives them of performing normally physical androutine functions. This makes them unable to learn, which would necessitate that they must be provided with special medical and psychological services.

Forum’s Objectives

1- Increasing international attention on the care and rehabilitation of the disabled, especially those people with special needs who have not yet received adequate care and attention from researchers and specialists.

2- Raising the educational, social and health awareness of community members and shedding light on concepts, causes, means of prevention and treatment of disability.

3- Identifying characteristics of people with special needs in order to provide them the right educational education for their rehabilitation and wellbeing.

As a gesture of its supporting to these noble objectives, Emirates Post has issued a set of commemorative stamps in two denominations (375 Fils & Dhs 4). The stamps have been issued on the occasion of the 4th Family Meeting which is held this year under the slogan “The Handicapped People...Reality and The Future.”
