HH Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak was born and raised in AI Ain, and was wedded to the late great leader Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan AI Nahayan in the 1960's. Since his accession on 6 August 1966, Her Highness embraced human and social causes and encouraged women in her developing country to emancipate themselves by learning and knowledge, which will enable them to serve their families and country.
Forty years of giving have elapsed, which were mainly embodied in the unsurpassed achievements of the General UAE Women's Union established in 1975. Her Highness has become the mother of the nation, the wife and the mother, a role model followed by national women in their dedication and preservation of the family and religious beliefs and traditions.
The establishment of the Abu Dhabi Women's Association in 1973 was the driving force behind the great achievements of women in the UAE.
At the local level, Her Highness was deservedly named the pioneer of women's development in the UAE, especially considering Her Highness' sponsorship of countless charity projects and causes, like sponsorship of orphans. care of the handicapped and the elderly, sponsorship of eradication of illiteracy programs and health awareness programs. Her Highness is also known for sponsoring charity and humanitarian events worldwide.
It is worthy to highlight the importance of "Charity Bowl" scheme festival in 1982 dedicated to distinguished volunteer work, whose proceeds have gone to charity at the international level, as well as the annual philanthrophy award which Her Highness received in 1997, and the ideal family award in 1997.
Within the framework of joint cooperation with the Higher Committee for the Mother of the Nation celebration, Emirates Post is issuing a set of 50 fils commemorative postage stamps in appreciation of the achievements of Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak.
