GCC Day For Autistic Children

Gulf Autism Day is observed every year on the 4th of April. The aim is to focus on this disability and create a better world for children suffering from autism.   

What is Autism? 

Autism is not a disease. It is a disability caused by stoppage or lack of development of areas like sensory perception, language and communication. Also, autistic children suffer from lack of social interaction and play activities with peer groups. Isolation, repetitive movement and uncontrolled tantrums are some of the symptoms of Autism. 

The Abu Dhabi Center for Autism was established in the year 2000, 1421 hijri, in response to the needs of autistic children. The aim of the center is to integrate these children into the society, by providing appropriate educational, social, psychological and training programs. 

Goals of the Center  

Work on early detection of Autism and provide appropriate services.

Provide educational, social, medical, entertainment, and occupation services for Autistic children.

Provide valid assessment and diagnostic tools.

Organize training courses and workshops for parents and specialists.

Periodic assessment and follow up in medical, psychological, behavioral and educational areas by special teams.

Provide well-trained special staff, and implement the latest educational programs.

Conduct seminars, lectures and conferences for public awareness.

Design booklets and brochures for public.
