10th Anniversary of Dubai International Holy Quran Award

The Dubai International Holy Quran Award was established in 1997 (1418 Hijri) under the directive of HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid AI Maktoum, Vice President & Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The initiative was launched with two categories, the International Holy Quran Contest and Islamic Personality. Subsequently, six new branches were introduced: the Holy Quran Local Contest, the Inmate Holy Quran memorization unit, the Lecture Program, the UAE National Memorizer Program, the Quran Memorization Centers Supervision Program, the Centre for Quranic Studies and Quranic Studies Program.

The Award is managed by a committee called the Dubai International Holy Quran Organizing Committee. This committee pursues the Award's objectives through seven sub-committees: the technical committee, the media unit, the administrative & financial unit, the activities unit, the public relations unit, the studies & programs unit and the Quranic studies unit.

The objectives of the Award are:

1- To raise the standards of Quranic knowledge in terms of memorization, recitation and the application of the Holy Quran values in our daily life

2- To highlight the Islamic identity of the UAE

3- To affirm Islamic values and their importance in our lives

4- To honor personalities or institutions providing outstanding services to Islam around the world.

5- To publish books that cater to Quranic scholarships.

6- To organise conferences and seminars.

Winners of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award receive monetary prizes as well as certificates of appreciation. All participants also receive cash prizes, in addition to certificates of appreciation. The Award promoters also bear the travel and accommodation costs of all contestants, the Islamic personality, the panel of judges and guests.
