Emirates Post has issued a commemorative stamp in single denomination (1 Dirham) to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Abu Dhabi Police, in association with the General Headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Police. The move is an expression of strong cooperation and partnership among all government establishments.
The stamp has been issued in recognition of the role played by the police in maintaining the security and stability of the nation, and the cordial relationship that exists between the police force and various communities in all the emirates, supporting the overall development of the country.
The Abu Dhabi Police is at the centre of the comprehensive system which was set up by the Late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May God rest his soul). Now, H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE is continuing the task under the charge of 1st Lieutenant General, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. Since its establishment, Abu Dhabi Police has distinguished itself with a spirit of sacrifice and vigilance, under the inspiration provided by its leaders and founders, with a focus on service to humanity and the nation. The Abu Dhabi Police, with its mission of making Abu Dhabi the safest city in the world, has distinguished itself as a champion of noble human values and supporter of human rights and man’s right to safe living. It is guided by the principles of integrity and fairness, and it attempts at all times to provide high level services to the modern age.
Since its establishment, Abu Dhabi Police has passed through different phases of development and recorded several achievements. The Late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May God rest his soul) witnessed the graduation of the first group from the police school in 1969, and instructed setting up of good facilities for the police force in 1972. Sheikh Mubarak Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan became the Interior Minister in 1973 and founded the first women’s unit of women n 1978, and drove the consolidation of Abu Dhabi Police with the Ministry of Interior in 1979. When Lieutenant General, Sheikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan became the Interior Minister, he led the transformation of the police force into a new era of further qualitative development.
