Under the patronage and attendance of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minster of Finance, Dubai International Marine Club organized the annual "Al Gaffal" (the Return) race to mark the end of the water sport season. 

The Al Gaffal or Sir Bu Na'air race represents and embodiment of the pas and history, and revival of old memories. This race commemorates the festival which was celebrated by the forefather on their long journey after several months of pearl diving at sea.

The Al Gaffal race features nearly 100 dhows travelling to a distance of about 51 nautical miles.
