One of the oldest national organizations in the United Arab Emirates, the Automobile & Touring Club of the UAE (ATCUAE) marks its golden jubilee in 2015.
The club was founded in 1965 under the name of Automobile Club of Trucial States.
As the national organization overseeing the development of motorsport, the club was chaired by high-profile personalities from early years. Sheikh Mohammad bin Salim Al Oassimi, the Founder, was the first to assume the position, and His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior also chaired the organization.
In 2006, His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, became the organization's Honorary President, mirroring the position held by presidents and royal figures like Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at the United Kingdom's Royal Automobile Club (RRC), and HIS Majesty King Abdullah II at the Royal Automobile Club of Jordan (RACJ).
Legendary rally driver Mohammed Bin Sulayem became ATCUAE President at the end of 2005.
Since its inception, the club has played a leading role in the development of motorsport on national and international levels.
