Consequently, and in recognition of the U.A.E.’s constant commitment for conserving and protecting the environment and preserving the rights of the future generations to a clean and safe environment, Law No. (7) was initiated on 4/2/1993 concerning the establishment of Federal Environmental Agency (FEA).
The FEA has since worked consistently and diligently to encourage and motivate individuals as well as the community at large to become actively involved in safeguarding the environment.
In this context, the Executive of the FEA recommended to celebrate this occasion every year by establishing the “National Environment Day” as venue to improve and accelerate awareness among the public about issues related to the environment and its protection. The decision that the 4th of February of each year will be the National Environment Day has also been approved by the Council of Ministers.
Protection Environment has been receiving considerable attention since the inception of the Federation of the United Arab Emirates. A major step in that direction has been the formation of the Higher Environmental committee in 1975. Members representing all concerned Ministries and other Institutions participated in the committee.
