In November 2012, His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced that the day (19 Ramadan) of each year would be observed as "the UAE Humanitarian Day" - in a tribute to the UAE's founding father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and for remembering his deeds, including human initiatives.
