FOUNDATION:
The Gulf Cooperation Council States was founded in the 4th of February 1981 during the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Sultanate of Oman at Riyadh the Capital city of Saudi Arabia. The Memorandum of the foundation of the Gulf Cooperation Council States, shows the desire of these states to strengthen and promote the cooperation between themselves in all different fields, which WII lead to the implementation of the common interest and real boost to the collective march of progress for the Council States. So, Riyad summit was the first step of the foundation of the Gulf Cooperation Council States.
AIMS:
Article (4) of the Articles of Association shows that the main objects and aims of the Gulf Cooperation Council States are:-
(1) To insure and maintain cooperation and unify the interests of the Gulf States in all fields in order to reach and achieve real unity between them.
(2) To strengthen and unify the relations between all the Gulf States nationals.
(3) .To adopt similar systems in the fields of economic, trade, education etc.
(4) To develop and share the technology in the fields of Industry, Agriculture, Mining and to achieve joint projects.
During the last six years, the Gulf Cooperation Council was able to influence local, Arab World and International relations. The Council became a reality, which affects all the International Affairs.
The Council was able to establish all its main bodies and started to achieve its aims by implementing a coordinated and unified action towards the efforts, which affect the Gulf Area.
