11th November, 1977 is a landmark in the history of UAE development path led by H.H. Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. This day witnessed the launch of the UAE University "UAEU" the first higher education institution in country. The establishment of this great University was meant to serve as the illuminating guide to all UAE citizens, in addition to having an educational and academic institution that is up to the standards of well known Universities world wide.

During the past 25 years, the UAEU has witnessed a tangible progress in its goals, activities and units. The number of faculties/colleges has increased to 9 instead of 4, while number of students has jumped to 18000 instead of 500. As far as University graduates are concerned, 26000 are currently holding eminent positions in the various governmental institutions of the federal state.

Since its establishment, the UAEA has sought to be a pioneer university in the field of higher education. This goal is emphasized by the continuous assessments and development of UAEU educational programs, which resulted in acquiring a very height reputation among other academic institutions in addition to receiving international accreditation for colleges of Business & Economics and Engineering. Educational programs of some other colleges were considerably developed and assessed an thus have become similarly ready to obtain accredition.

Although there are some regional Universities that may have been established long before it, the UAEI has achieved remarkable progress, due to the clear sighted vision an d wise leadership of HH Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the Minister of Education and Scientific Research, the UAEU Chancellor.

Commemorating its 25th Anniversary, the UAEU is, infact, marking the scientific & educational values it's implanted in the UAE society. The UAEU is also looking forward to fulfilling its future aspirations eagerly in order to become an eminent mark among the other higher educational institutions regionally as well as internationally. This ambition is highly supported by adopting the most updated strategies that would reshape the UAEU mission to become a Research & community Service Institution rather than it regular mission of qualifying distinguished and well trained students, so that they may take over high positions within their society; Research Centers have been established for that purpose, while Centers for Continuing Education have been created to play a significant role in the UAE national development march.

The UAEU mission extended to include each and every house, institution and business sector in the UAE. The on-going advisory and consultation services and the various experiences offered to the UAE society are good and clear examples of the significant role played by the UAEU. The comprehensive cultural, educational and scientific role of the UAEU can be clearly sighted by everybody living in UAE.

By no means teaching, training and qualifying thousands of the UAE students and others, has been an easy task. The early days of the UAE witnessed several difficulties that would have hindered its progress and development but for the strong will, that was and still is, the key motive to success in the present and rather better future.

It's been natural for institutions and organizations to commemorate the gold old days, however, the UAEU while marking its Silver Jubilee event, it is also looking forward to a new era of more success, specially after acquiring deeply rooted basis of academic and administrative experiences. 

THE UAEU Silver Jubilee commemoration is a national event that is celebrated by the whole united and rapidly developing country, since the University envisages the UAE aspired futures progress. In the mean time, while celebrating graduates whole illuminate the darkness and pave the way for their homeland to occupy the highest place among other nations.
